      Registration Now Open for Carnegie Arts Center Summer Classes

      Registration is open for art camps being offered at the Carnegie Arts Center. The first classes begin on June 9th – register now for classes your kids will never forget!

      In Art Explorers camps your child can choose a week to explore outer space or a week to invent super heroes, be a hippie, create a storybook or become inspired by great artists of the past. There are nine camps to choose from for ages 7 to 13. Each camp runs from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday. Cost is $150 per week and includes a Carnegie T-shirt. Register early to guarantee your choice.

      In Teens Moving Forward, teens and pre-teens will gain skills and knowledge for living a health-filled and balanced life. Components of the program include dance, improvisation, journaling, relaxation, and healthy eating habits that will encourage and instill self-confidence, self-esteem, positive body image, increased physical and mental strength, and healthy relationships through respect, cooperation and leadership. Teens Moving Forward meets twice a week for 4 weeks and is designed for both girls and boys in middle school or high school. Registration fee for the 8-class session is $125.

      Description: An Exhibition of Rare Guitars and One-of-a-kind Rock n' Roll Memorabilia

      The Carnegie Rocks! presents a privately-held Rock and Roll collection that includes more than 40 hard-to-find and one-of-a-kind vintage guitars played by some of the most iconic names in Rock and Roll history. This is the first time the collection has been exhibited. It spans the period from the 1930's to the present, with an emphasis on the 1960's and forward. It features both acoustic and electric guitars, including the 1974 Cherry Sunburst Les Paul guitar played by Ace Frehley in the mid-late seventies when KISS was at their height.

      A Marshall stack used by Steve Vai on David Lee Roth's "Eat Em and Smile" tour will be on view along with an original 1959 Telefunken microphone used by Les Paul, a one-of-a-kind Monteleone guitar, and memorabilia such as a vintage sign proclaiming "The Iridium Proudly Presents Les Paul" from the Iridium Jazz Club in New York.

      Other items include a custom guitar used by Brad Gillis on the Ozzy Osbourne and Night Ranger tours and the last costume worn by Ace Frehley in performance with the original members of KISS. Rounding out the exhibit will be numerous video stations where visitors can see the items on display being used in performance. The Carnegie Rocks! will feature these items and a great many more guitars, amps, and celebrated items from Rock history!
