We have some truly great people here in Modesto USA. These are the people that go above and beyond, the extra mile, make things happen and really make change in our community. For over 45 years, Nancy Young has been a driving force to make Downtown Modesto better and more vibrant. Nancy in 1973 joined the Downtown Improvement District that started in 1966. This was when there were still department stores downtown, before the mall. When the mall opened, scooping out the core of downtown retail, it was tough going, and the downtown business rallied together. Nancy Young was there, promoting, organizing and working to bring people downtown, supporting the business owners that open up everyday across the entire downtown. To put this in perspective, the DID works to support the operators of downtown businesses, from G St to Needham and from 6th St to 5 Points. This is a huge area. The Downtown Partnership represents property owners in a smaller section of Downtown Modesto.

For 45 years, Nancy has been promoting downtown, working hard to create new ideas and projects that are designed to bring new people downtown and has developed a great relationship with the many people that are the face of downtown. She has worked to create and help execute very successful programs like the Downtown Sampler, Patio Fest, Trunk and Treat, Art Walk, Dia de los Muertos, Harvest Festival, and Celebration of Lights, Graffiti Cruise Parade, 4th of July Parade and many others. She also coordinates the volunteer Downtown Events Group that executes some of these events and is the liaison with the city officials. Her expertise enables one-stop support for downtown events and assistance to business owners and has delivered amazing results with a very modest budget. Nancy has served with style, respect and dedication and love for downtown Modesto. Nancy is a true asset to our community and has accomplished so much to make Modesto a special place. She is a true friend to many and has the support of so many of our local businesses.
