Christmas Tree Recycling Info

Christmas Tree Recycling Information

City of Modesto residents can recycle their Christmas trees in a variety of ways:

* Place an UNTREATED tree (i.e.: no flocking, paint or fireproofing) in your green organic waste container. All ornaments, tinsel, nails, stands, support rods and plastic bags must be removed. Cut the UNTREATED tree into small sections – the lid of the green organic waste container must close completely. * Place an UNTREATED tree in the street or alley along with other yard trimmings for collection. All ornatments, tinsel, nails, stands, support rods and plastic bags must be removed and the tree must be cut into 6 foot sections or smaller. Collection will begin the first Monday in January. * TREATED trees (flocked, painted and/or fireproofed) cannot be recycled. The only way to dispose of TREATED trees properly is to cut them up and place them in your black garbage container. Remember, the lid must be closed completely.
