The kids of Modesto are our future. There are schools in town that need your partnership. They will leave a permanent mark on our city. If you have a business or a talent, please browse our list of schools and email the principle to get hooked up. Here are a listing of the Modesto schools that have websites. Many of these are built and created by kids. Very cool.

LEAD THOUGHT
Quality of life is important to all of us. When someone moves to Modesto for quality of life, there are usually young kids involved or they just want to get out of the rat race. Both things are possible here. Modesto has some great educational opportunities and as a parent you have to get involved. Working in the class and joining the PTA are two great ways. Occasionally you need to get involved with some of the big picture.

We need to make sure that our schools do not censor books based on cetain religious positions of some parents. Not only that, parents that do not have kids in our high school system. Where do we stop? Who decides what is right or wrong? Are our kids in IB and AP more intelligent than some give credit? We need challenging and intelligent literature with availabiliy based on the complete text, vs. selected salacious sound bites. If a custom tailored education is reuired, then private school, charter or home schooling is recommended. Contact the Modesto City School Board.

SCHOOL PARTNERSHIPS
A school is only as good as it's students and teachers. How are these students getting prepared for the future. Will the kids of today be ready for the work force? What are the opportunities? There is a great organization called SPIE. Stanislaus County Partners in Education is linking schools with local businesses. Get involved as every school can benefit. It is as simple as an hour a month to read to students or you can host a whole program. Check out these business that are already taking the lead.

FEATURED SCHOOL - Check out the Open Plan.
The kids at Freemont School have been doing some great things. The Freemont Open plan is a unique plan that brings out the best in the students and teaches a full program. Parents are encouraged to participate and the system is very creative. Freemont Open plan is avaialble to any student in Modesto through a sign up program. Space is limited. Check out the website. Our kids are doing wonderful things.

Let them know what you think. Take an active roll in your kids education, or even if you do not have kids, you can get involved with schools in town. Contact Stanislaus County Partners in Education (SPIE) to get hooked up. It is worth it.
