Greetings from ModestoView | 05-14-2019
ModestoView News Letter

Greetings Friends!

We had so much fun at the Gala in Graceada.  It was great to be with so many other people that believe that we need to invest in our local parks and make sure our playgrounds work, and the facilities are ready for use.  We want people to use our parks for the right reasons.

But now we shift into Bike Week.  It has been great cycling weather and this weekend is loaded with opportunities and hopefully, we dodge some late-season rain. Bike to Work is Thursday Am, Family Cycling Festival and Modesto Criterium is Saturday Am.  You gotta love it. To all of you that came out and supported Ride for Mom, it was a great turn out and thanks to all that volunteered and participated.

THEN, Sunday, this is the day.  It is Modesto Porchfest.  Over 55 porches in the College Area and LaLoma Neighborhood will be hosting nearly 75 musicians and bands.  This is a great day to bike from house to house, meet new people and hear new music.  If the weather cooperates, The ModestoView Crew will be hosting a Porchfest porch with music from noon- 6- pm featuring great local bands Triple D, Sticks & Stones, Patty Castillo Davis Band, Cloak & Swagger and Third Party.  We will close the street on Edgebrook between 913 and 901 and Bangarang will be there rockin.  Don’t miss this fantastic event. If you are not into that, check out the Chocolate Festival in Oakdale! You will have a great time and meet new people.

This is Modesto friends, and there is a lot of good happening in our city.
Hope to see you out and about.  – Chris Murphy

Chef View:  Nobody’s got Ralston’s Goat

By Chris Murphy

One of my favorite places in Modesto is the corner of 10th and J. This means downtown to me, it is the epicenter. 10th St just has some magic to it as the site of our legendary cruising and the cruise route, but all of the tasty places to eat, drink and enjoy being a part of this city. This is really what it’s all about, enjoying food and drink with your friends, sitting on a patio and watching the city go by. Read More

DesignView

From Bauhaus to Modesto’s Courthouse
by Lee Davis, Founder, Modesto Design Collective

For many Modestans, Bauhaus is an awesome tapas haus off of Downey and Kimble Aves serving delicious cured and smoked meats, pickled seasonal vegetables, and a wide selection of international and local craft beers. And so it is. But Bauhaus is also one of (if not the) most influential and revolutionary global movements of art, architecture and design. Read More
