This just in from Max Miller, program director, UVR
was just listed in a national music magazine as a band to
watch. Right on. Modesto bands are still making lots of national
noise.
Flying Blind is heading back into
the studio with the producer who has done wonders with Cake
and Chris Isaak. Hope there is some good stuff coming out.
Grandaddy is on the cover of the
SF Chronicle Datebook section on Friday the 11th. Grandaddy's
trippy and innovative cover of Revolution. It is right there
along with Eddie Vedder, Ben Harper playing Strawberry Fields,
Black Crows doing Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. Big time.
It is kind of funny. The Modesto Indie
newsgroup has been bashing the living crud out of cover bands
and giving them little value. All of this when the I Am Sam
soundtrack is making a lot of noise and is 100% full of covers,
including Modesto's Grandaddy. Covers can be very cool and
very innovative and have lots of merit.
Waterneck will be at the Fat Cat
club 930 11th St Modesto on thurs Jan 17th with Bottlefly
we just finished a rough cut of three new songs and have been
getting a great response to them..we will head back into the
studio in April of 2002 and finish the rest of the CD.. Mark
Weinberg who has helped Matt Nathenson as well as his group
Crumb get noticed for their great sound is on board to help
us prefect ours...Look for 2002 to be the year Waterneck is
heard by all. Thanks to everyone who believed in us from the
start.........
Grandaddy quoteth:
"Hello everybody. Grandaddy here. There's a new(s)
update about current forward meanderings on our site. More
stuff has occurred since, like us assembling a limited number
of one of a kind books that are a compilation of old flyers
and tour programmes, with specialized artwork in each one.
Grab your blankets and click on the link below."
Thanks, Jim.

Musicians Needed
Guitarist and drummer looking for bass player, vocals a plus.
We have several songs already "done" Influences
run the gamut, but most of all we are looking for an intermediate
player, someone to grow with us and have fun making music.
We have 2 - 3 places to practice, and one
has AC/heat so summer and winter don't matter!!! Anyone interested??
2nd guitar players will also be considered. Please respond
to Awhar23@aol.com
New soundtrack
If you listen in the new movie I Am Sam, with Sean Penn, you
will hear Modesto's own Grandaddy covering the Beatles' Revolution.
There are lots of great Beatles covers on this soundtrack.
This is very cool and you know it's gonna be
.awlright.

The Streeter World Report:
Shelly Streeter here just getting back from 2 months of touring
in Australia and New Zealand. It was a fast-paced time. We
performed at many country music clubs, The Mildura Festival
in Aust. ran for 10 straight days with upwards of 40,000 people
coming thru those days. Then on to New Zealand for a Kiwi
Fan Fair at the racetrack there in Auckland. Also did a festival
in Taupo, New Zealand. Everywhere we went the people talked
to us about our great nation and how our people were handling
the tragedy. There was an overwhelming outpouring of love
and support for us and our homeland. Whew, it was great.
Fe9d UPDATE - Friends & Family,
I'm very happy to be the first to tell you about our new demo
that we should have out by Christmas. Its entitled "Moments"
and we've already tracked 90% of the music for it and had
a great time doing it; I think it'll really show when you
hear it. We're very proud of this project, we know it'll be
a huge step up from "Tragedy". Everything has gone
very smooth in the recording process so far and it'll only
get better in the mixing phase. We really feel this recording
will capture more of our style & sound than ever before
and should play a big role in helping us attract more listeners
& supporters to our music. It'll be GRAND!
All Ages Place?
Could it be there is an all ages music place called Uncle
Joe's If so, it would be very cool.
