February 3 and 4th - Local faves Flying
Blind open for one of the greats of classic stadium
rock, Blue Oyster Cult. The reapers
themselves enjoyed the show and Flying Blind got a standing
ovation from the classic rock fans. They opened with Western
September Sky. Cool, huh? FB will be playing Joe's in Chicago
on March 3. The tour begins
Feb 2nd - Space invaders hit Jonathon's Ballroom. Flying
Blind had a new CD release party for the remixed CD
"Push" featuring some new tracks including Work
so Hard" The place was on fire and featured some high
energy covers of great songs like Paranoid and Teen Spirit.
Honeyspot delivered a huge performance
on the 2nd, in front of the marketing people from Universal
records that were there check out Flying Blind. They did great,
and the ground made it fun. Maybe they will be a next regional
breakout who hit it in Modesto.
Henry from Hollopoynt says that
the search for a new lead singer is coming along. Lots of
people trying out, but no fit yet. Word is that there is someone
who will fit the bill very soon. We will keep you posted.
Charybdis will be doing some shows
here in the near future at the State Theater. They have been
making a lot of noise with their new promotion group Poseidon
and a local website called www.modestomusic.com
Right on the more on the web the better.
There are some rumors flying that Charlie's
may reopen. Could it be true? We will try to find out. If
any one has info, email us.
Check back the MAMA section to see an updated and expanded
band listing later this week.
The world of Rock is happy again here in Modesto. Rock
96.7 is alive and kicking with some great programming
by Max Miller and Jack Paper. Rock must be on the airwaves.
