Interested in Mentoring a High School Student?

SCOE Looking for Mentors for 6 Cups to College Mentoring Program

Interested in mentoring a high school student as he or she transitions to college? The Stanislaus County Office of Education (SCOE) is currently looking for mentors for its 6 Cups to College Mentor Program. This program is designed to help high school students as they transition to college, and early college students as they prepare for careers.  Community members are paired with students who would most benefit from assistance with college and career guidance. Mentors and mentees are matched by gender, and when possible, by college major/career interest.

Help increase the college-going rate in Stanislaus County by becoming a 6 Cups to College mentor.

  • Give back by sharing your college experience with a local high school junior or senior
  • Meet 6 times during the course of the school year at mutually convenient times and locations
  • Assist with college planning, the application process, scholarship searches, etc.
  • Receive training and support from SCOE’s College & Career Planning Department

Several orientation sessions are coming up and will be held at SCOE, 1100 H Street, Modesto (Patterson Room).  Upcoming orientation sessions are slated for:

  • Thursday, April 19, 2018, 11:00am—12:00pm
  • Tuesday, May 22, 2018, 11:30am—12:30pm
