Community invited to MJC’s 93rd Birthday Bash

Avast ye maties! The community is invited to join the campus in celebration of Modesto Junior College’s 93rd year. The Modesto Junior College Foundation and Associated Students of Modesto Junior College (ASMJC) will host a birthday celebration for the college’s mascot Petey Pirate on Monday, September 22, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on the East Campus Quad, 435 College Avenue in Modesto.

ASMJC will offer barbecued hot dogs and the MJC Foundation will serve birthday cake. There will also be a “Talk Like a Pirate” contest. MJC first held classes on Monday, September 19, 1921.

“This is a celebration of two things,” said George Boodrookas, executive director of the MJC Foundation. “First, it’s MJC’s 93rd anniversary. Second, it’s our mascot’s birthday. What’s not to like about this celebration? We invite students, employees, alumni and friends to join us at MJC on this special day!”

The event is free and on campus parking is available for $2 in student parking lots. For more information on MJC’s 93rd Birthday Bash contact the MJC Foundation at 575-6619.
