MJC Spring Choral Concert April 22


“Collaboration” – Spring Choral Concert presented at Modesto Junior College

The Modesto Junior College Concert Choir will present a Spring Choral Concert on Friday, April 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the Main Auditorium on the East Campus, 435 College Avenue, Modesto. The concert is entitled “Collaboration” in celebration of the cooperative efforts music performance entails.

The choral program will include works by Joseph Martin, Bradley Ellingboe, Victor Johnson, Handel, Bach, G. B. Pergolesi, Franz Schubert, Ola Gjeilo, Verdi, Elizabeth Alexander, Langston Hughes, Andre Thomas, John Purifoy, Victor Paranjoti and Emily Crocker. The choir will be conducted by Cherrie Llewellyn, D.M.A. and accompanied by pianist Yan Yan Chan, D.M.A.

Also performing during the program are dancers from India, guest instrumentalists including cello, flute and the “fiddle,” as well as two flamenco guitarists and a flamenco dancer. The concert will conclude with a folk song from Ghana accompanied by African drums and dancing.

Llewellyn, who is retiring at the end of the 2016 spring semester, said “Join us for this eclectic evening of singing, dancing and making music. It is all about collaboration with my colleagues, other students and the community we have around us.”

Admission is free, with donations are gratefully accepted. Campus parking is free for the evening.
