MJC to showcase Human Services Programs to students and community

(Modesto, CA) – The Human Services Program at Modesto Junior College is sponsoring a Spring 2014 Orientation on Thursday, January 9, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., in the Forum Building, room 110, on East Campus, located at 435 College Avenue. The public is invited to participate in this free event.

The event showcases the degrees, certificates of achievement, and skills recognition awards available to students in human services, chemical dependency counseling, psychosocial rehabilitation, and gerontology.

MJC is the only community college in Stanislaus County with a Chemical Dependency Counseling Program that meets the educational requirements necessary to take California’s Department of Alcohol and Drug Program’s (ADP) state licensing exam. Additionally, the nine-unit Skills Recognition Award in Psychosocial Rehabilitation allows students to become eligible to sit for the state exam to become certified as psychosocial rehabilitation practitioners.

Several local human services organizations will also participate in the Spring 2014 Orientation at MJC. Representatives from Stanislaus County, behavioral health care, chemical dependency counseling, children and family services as well as many other interrelated fields will provide information about volunteer or internship opportunities, and the services that they provide for individuals, families, groups and the community at large.

For more information on the MJC Human Services Spring 2014 Orientation call Dr. Kimberly Kennard at (209) 575-6864.
