OK, so you’ve learned to play an instrument, and now you want to rock and roll. You need to check out VMI School of Music. This is School of Rock for real. Housed at Gottschalk Music Center and lead by the very talented Darin Morris, you and learn to shread, play with others, pose and set up set lists and really do a gig. The annual showcase of VMI Rocks is ModStock on August 10 at Graceada Park 10 am to 8 pm where new bands share the same stage with more experienced bands. This is a free family event loaded with talent. Check it out and make your plans to learn to play and add music to your life. There will be arts and crafts, bounce houses, food, entertainment, tie-dye, Spiderman, and a rock ‘n roll Circus atmosphere.

Chris Murphy is the President and CEO of Sierra Pacific Warehouse Group and Publisher and Founder of ModestoView Inc. Chris worked globally in the cycling industry returning to Modesto in 1996. He is also the founder of the Modesto Historic Graffiti Cruise Route, Legends of the Cruise Walk of Fame, Modesto Rockin’ Holiday, the Modesto Music History Organization and co-founder of the Modesto Area Music Association. Chris is married to his artist wife Rebecca since 1985 and has two daughters Madison and Abigail, both graduating from Modesto High and UC Berkeley. He is lead singer and guitarist for his band, Third Party that donates their performances to non-profits.
