Rockin’ Holiday Thanks

Rockin’ Thanks!
By Chris Murphy

We did it!
We created a new Modesto holiday tradition and brought back our past in a new fun Rockin’ format. We blended our American Graffiti History, our Rockabilly History and the nostalgia of days gone by, mixed it all up and added a dash of snow and created Modesto Rockin’ Holiday
Hearing the screams as the snow started, the smiles on the faces of the kids and families when they were sitting with Rockin Santa, and the huge crowds of people after the parade and the Spirit of Giving run, made it all so exciting.

Thank you to all that supported this crazy idea and now we have a new Modesto tradition that people are talking about all over the region. We are already excited about next season and what we can do to make it more spectacular.

Thanks so much to my colleagues at Sierra Pacific and ModestoView for the support to make this happen. Thanks Mark Haynes and Nick Crockett. The folks at Collins Electric are Rockin’ stars. Matt Paine, you are amazing and thanks Brian Gini for believing in downtown Modesto.

Brian Friend of Laser Voodoo is a snow and laser genius. Legendary air-brush artist Tom Nye who brought Rockin’ North Pole to life. The City of Modesto team, lead by Andy Johnson was epic for making all the lights turn green for this project and the downtown businesses that rallied around it. Thanks Greg and Tyler at JCD for making me realize that this was all possible to create.

Thanks to Jennifer and Mike Allsup, Rockin’ Santa Steve Waldron and our Rockin’ Elves and our local musicians of Modesto for bringing Santa and Rockin’ North Pole to life and creating so many memories. Thanks to the Modesto DID and the CVB for the endless support and Jeffrey for the art talent. Thanks to Saul at Brenden for the Rockin’ tunes and for allowing the Rockin’ 57 Sleigh to live in the lobby on off days and through Christmas.

Again, thank you Modesto so very much for celebrating our history by making it part of our future. We have created something special. You can check out a lot of Rockin’ Holiday pics at

Hope your Rockin’ Holidays were great and we wish you a Happy Rockin New Year!
