All over the world, Star Wars will be on everyone’s mind on May 4th.
This is a special day here in Modesto USA where we are the “#homeofstarwars

Yes friends, this is our day and we are going to celebrate and bring the action to 10th St Plaza.
Modesto’s Star Wars community will be celebrating May the 4th. We have invited the 501st Squadron, The Norcal Cosies, the Wolves of Mandalore and the Rebel Legion to join us at this event and the LodgePole Pickers will go full Jedi for their music in the plaza. You won’t want to miss the light saber battles and the light show by Laser Voodoo. Everyone is encouraged to cosplay as their favorite Star Wars characters.

The celebration begins at 6 pm, with the Lodgepole Pickers. There will be a special presentation of the Star Wars cosplayers at 7 pm. We will have a public reading of the Modesto proclamation, At 7:30, well be presenting the award-winning Carma Ladybug as Miss May the 4th . By 8 pm the epic battle will be waged. After some more Jedi Lodge Pole Picker Music, the film Spaceballs will brighten the big screen of the Brenden for $5.00. This will be a night to remember

This year is the 40th Anniversary of the release of the original Star Wars. May 25, 1977, was the day that changed modern film forever. From the opening theme and the rolling script, the world had a new lexicon of interstellar characters, starships and even speed measurements. In as little as a few parsecs, this film propelled Modesto native George Lucas into Hyperspace of film fame.

There will be special Star Wars food and drink specials at Fuzio, Ralston’s Goat, T-Cups, and Loard’s Ice Cream. Make sure you like the May the 4th Facebook page to stay up to speed. @maythefourthmodesto
