Tour Des Compadres Live

Tour De Compadres
By Efren Martinez

This tour is happening right now all across the United States. The Compadres are made up of Colony House, Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors, Switchfoot and NEEDTOBREATHE. I ended up experiencing this great show personally in San Francisco on July 9th at the Masonic. Days prior I hooked up via the phone for an interview with Drew Shirley from Switchfoot, so I did have some insight of what I might expect at their show; but in reality the show played out far more amazing than what I had put down in words from our conversation. I’m thinking Drew might have been more on the humble side during our interview. In truth, all the bands were uniquely awesome in their own way, but what stole the show was when the lead singer from Switchfoot, Jon Forman, stepped down from the stage to continue his performance on a personal level with his fans. As he waded through the masses, he kept the crowd floored while singing on his microphone. The fans in turn couldn’t help but want to reach out and place their loving hands upon him. The fans adored it and as Drew told me during our interview, Switchfoot is all about it’s fans and always looks for ways to connect with them at their shows.

NEEDTOBREATHE was equally exciting and their performance was filled with non-stop energy. In fact, I could see many fans up and dancing along in the highest seats of the Masonic. Colony House may have warmed them up as the show opener, but Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors set the positive vibe for the night. A big thanks to all the bands for a great show and especially Switchfoot for their kindness backstage.

About the Author:

I answered the call back in 1983; mixing Music and Entertainment with an eccentric European style has always come easy for me. In the early 80's I was the Disc Jockey for most of the high school dances in Modesto. In the late 80's I found myself in Hollywood working as a dancer and sound engineer for various professional recording industries. In 1990 my wife of 25 years and I started (The Quake Mobile DJ ®) which was seeded from San Francisco's 1985, The Quake, radio station that only lasted a short while on the air. 26 years later The Quake Mobile DJ is bigger & better than ever in the Entertainment industry. Real-Estate, photojournalism, event promoter, saving animals, travel and fitness are a few other of my interests. I also enjoy motivational speaking to children and to those who are struggling with addiction. In my life, I have always been a very direct person and once I see a goal I won't quit till I've achieved it. But out of all of the above I feel in my heart that the best inspiration in my life is my wife and my love for the faith that I practice. Phil 4:20
