Visionary Meeting Empire Library

Visioning meeting set for Empire Library relocation
The public is invited to attend a visioning meeting with Supervisor Kristin Olsen, the Empire Municipal
Advisory Council (MAC) and county officials to give input that will help guide the planning of a new library
for the Empire community. During the Empire MAC meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 6 p.m., participants will
discuss community needs and desires for the library facility. The meeting will be held in the Community Room
of the current Empire Library, located at 18 South Abbie St.
County Library Director Diane McDonnell said, “due to the generosity of the Empire Community Hall
Association in donating this property, we now have an outstanding opportunity to relocate the Empire Library
and enhance service capacity to better meet the needs of the community.”
The property which housed the former Empire Community Hall, located near the intersection of First
and I Streets, was donated for the purpose of a new community library. The previous building, severely
damaged by a fire, was demolished and the site cleared in preparation of a new library building. The new site is
in a highly desirable location for a library, adjacent to the Regional Water Safety Training Center and Empire
Elementary School.
Participants are asked to RSVP no later than January 16 by calling the Library Administration Office at
209-558-7801 or emailing
