Greetings from ModestoView | 09-30-2019
ModestoView News Letter

Greetings Friends!

Happy Rocktober!  It is time for the coolest and spookiest month of the year.   Our new issue is on the streets and in the mailboxes tomorrow Oct 1!  It is a really fun issue.  The evenings start to get darker and the air is crisp and things just taste better in the fall and so much is happening in our area.

This week, you can actually be a part of the future design of our community.  There are open design forums all week long at Greens on 10th. Also, check out the new DoMo walls project in the alleys off 10th with 7 international artists bringing their creations to life, with a final presentation at DoMo First Fridays.  ModestoView is proud to be sponsoring this project.  Also, if you have good ideas, get down there and sketch it out.  Exciting happenings at the State Theatre with a preview of their 85th Anniversary on Wednesday as they build their new “Jewell” mini theatre and get ready for the Le Circque Fundraiser on the 12th.   This weekend, grab your bikes for a Saturday am bike tour of the downtown murals, and the International Festival at MJC showcasing our many cultures.

Don’t miss this week’s Music In the Plaza and DoMo First Friday Market with the VMI Rocks band Indie Daze. It’s fun and free and in 10th St Plaza.  Check it out before an evening movie at the Brenden.  Sunday, it is a great double feature with former Doobie Michael McDonald and the award winning America at the Basi Fruityard.  Get ready to sing along with Sister Golden Hair.  Fun times.

The Downtown Sampler is coming October 8.  Check out the many great downtown restaurants and cafes, with strolling musicians and much more. You won’t want to miss this wonderful downtown event filled with food, friends and fun.  Get your $20 tix at www.purplepass.com/modestosampler

The Modesto Area Music Awards are coming on October 15, so make sure you vote for your faves!  www.modestoareamusic.com

Becky and I love decorating for Halloween more than any other holiday and we hope you will stop by to trick or treat. Our pirate ship will be there to greet you.  Read More

Go Downtown: Le Cirque at the State

The fabulous historic State Theatre is celebrating 85 years and is the last great movie house in Modesto. Keeping it in tip-top form is a community priority. The State will be hosting an amazing and wonderful fundraiser that will be sure to amaze, from acrobatics, ringleaders and of course some magic, music and a fantastic meal by John Surla. Read More

Featured Friday: Hope it Holds

By Middagh Goodwin

Featured Friday is our way of getting to know our neighbors, those who have a story to tell but maybe not a featured spread.  The artists, musicians, teachers, business owners and creators all around us. This week we asked a few questions of Octobers Cover Creatures, the Victorines. You may remember Rob and April from last October when they were the Monster and Bride of Frankenstein on our Cover and at the State Theatre. Read More
