What’s new with Jazz and the Blues News?

If you luuuv music you’re gonna love this

Fall is apron us and one of my friends John Griswold a smooth Jazz and world music promoter again has said he has done his last show!. It is hard to continue to do live music shows when we don’t have enough folks coming out to support the arts so please all you music and art fans please continue to come out and support some of the best in the arts we have right here in our community. I saw John’s last show with Richard Smith and Francesco Buzzuro, duo world class guitarists playing in an intimate garden party with good crowd, and heard good things about the show of Slim Man who played the Barkin’ Dog Grill to a good crowd so we hope we have not heard the last of John’s efforts on the music front. And don’t forget it’s MAMA time so get your vote in, rent your tuxedo and see who takes home the MAMA’s! Vote at and vote for Blue Monday!

Blue Monday Party & invitational jam returns to the Barkin’ Dog Grill the second Monday Oct12th with special guest Dave Souza with house band, the Blue Monday Ultra Lounge Band. Dave is one of our local rock solid bass, guitar player and singer front man that has played in many local bands through the years. On Blue Monday the house band Ultra Lounge the usual cast of criminals will accompany him will be: Johnny Valdes guitar, Tim Allen bass, vocals, Dave Hawks on drums, Eric Benson, Pat Governor on Keys, Andrew Rosenblum on horns and sax, and Jamie Dubberly trombonist and arranger. Off the beaten path: Newman Theatre in Newman brings in Oct: 11th golden Bough, 19th Foreigner and Journey tribute, and the 26th Black Irish Band, well worth the drive in a vintage restored theatre environment.

Lowdown on the jam session in the downtown: Barkin’ Dog Thursday night jazz jams with Dave Dow, Queen Bean Sundays open mike night also in an all age environment. Josh Rosenblum is also doing open mics at Boardroom every 4th Monday. Check for ongoing details.

Remember please support our local live venues for live music and the arts. So take some time out to hear some live music and the arts of our own town as well this month, think globally and act locally.

All the best, peace out! Eric Benson, cell 209, 918-7033.
