Big Earl and Adventures in Kickstarter land.

As many of you already know I am in a couple of local bands. Big Earl and the Cryin’ Shame has been playing around Modesto for nearly six years and I am in another band call the Poorhouse Millionaires that has been together for just about a year.

Now with that little bit of backstory out of the way, I want to share a little about something new I am trying with the Poor House Millionaires that just may be an experiment that may work for other bands in our area.

We just launched a Kickstarter campaign. Kickstarter.com is a website or funding platform that helps people raise money for creative projects and rewards backers with a variety of incentives. In our case, backers have the opportunity to score music, posters, live shows and the chance to have us learn a song of their choosing and make a youtube video of our band playing it just for them.

All this is being done in an effort to raise money to put out our first CD, which will be called “Prevention Intervention”. It all sounds pretty great right? Well I think it is. Its taken a lot of work and planning and getting friends to help including Wayne Campbell and Ruben Porras on the technical and content development side and Ray Vazira and Eli Lester on theband side.

This whole project has been a bit stressful, but doing anything this complicated, involved and so close to the heart is always difficult. Now that the project is launched, I feel very confident that we will reach our modest goal of $2,800 and even I think we have a good chance of going over. That would help us develop our brand with merchandise and advertising.

I hope that you will take a look at our page on Kickstarter.com and consider becoming a backer. I’d personally recommend that you consider using the site to help launch your next creative project. It has given us a voice and a real opportunity to get our efforts off the drawing board and into action.

Find the link to our Kickstarter profile the Poorhouse Millionaires Facebook page or on my personal page or you can go to Kickstarter.com and search for “Prevention Intervention-Poorhouse Millionaires CD Release”. I can’t wait to share this CD with all of you and I hope to see you out at a show soon.
