Dance presents “Jam ‘n Jive… A New York State of Mind”

(Modesto, CA) –Modesto Junior College Department of Dance presents “Jam ‘n Jive… A New York State of Mind”on September 14, 15, 16, and 17 at 7 p.m. in the Main Auditorium of the Performing and Media Arts Center on East Campus, 435 College Avenue, Modesto.

The evening of dance will celebrate the rich culture and history of New York through choreography within a variety of styles of musical theater, jazz funk, contemporary and traditional jazz dance.
In addition to MJC’s Off-Balance Dancers, the high schools involved in this year’s Jam ‘n Jive concert are Beyer, Central Catholic, Central Valley, Ceres, Davis, Downey, Enochs, Gregori, and Modesto. Also performing are the private dance studios of 5678 Dance, Juline Regional Youth Ballet, Strut Performing Arts, The Dance Academy, and The Dance Factory.

Admission is $10 general and $8 for students and senior citizens. Students can receive a discounted ticket price of $5 for the Wednesday, September 14 performance by showing their student ID card. Tickets are available online at and at the Auditorium Box Office, which is open Tuesdays through Fridays, 12 noon to 5 p.m., and at the door beginning 90 minutes prior to each performance.
