Happy Leo season! With the Sun in Leo, there are feelings of independence, expressiveness, and playfulness! These are the perfect tools for beginning the school year. You can use your elevated independence to spend time on your own, studying and preparing for classes. During my High School years I spent a lot of time at The Queen Bean and local libraries for quiet studying! If you ever need to escape reality, read a book in one of Modesto’s peaceful parks (we have so many). My mother recently bought a comfy chair and small carpet from a garage sale and set up a reading area in our backyard! This could be a fun project for your family to do. You can be expressive by signing up for art classes at The Chartreuse Muse, starting a garden (Westurf Nursery is locally owned and has great options), or immersing yourself in a new subject! If you are interested in the planets and how they affect your daily life/self, check out cafeastrology.com! As for the necessary playful aspect of our lives, you could go on a hour-long horseback ride in Pinecrest for only $25! I recently did this excursion and it was incredible! The horses were gentle, the trail had beautiful views and a diverse terrain, and our host was informative, funny and helpful! Check out aspenmeadowpackstation.com for all of the information you need!

I am sad to say that this will be my last Modesto View article ever. I have had such an influential 5 years writing for this magazine, but I am happy to announce that I will be passing it on to my younger sister, Sofia! We are two very different individuals, so get ready for fresh ideas filling up your school year! As for me, I will be moving to Chico this month to attend the CSU with a major in Journalism. I’m extremely excited for my new adventure, and I am thankful for how much the Modesto community helped me grow and thrive.
