GEEKView: Star Wars and More
By Middagh Goodwin

Wow not only is the Mandalorian streaming on Disney+ the Rise of Skywalker will be in theatres December 19th. You know Modesto will be representing big time for the premiere of the new Star Wars movie. The 501st will be out at Brenden Thursday night and the Lodge Pole Pickers will be dressed as Jedi’s and rogues for Rockin Holiday and we encourage you to dress up too.  Saturday, Brenden will be hosting the 501st, Central Valley Costumers and more for a Star Wars Celebration in the 10th Street Plaza at 1-3 pm. Bring the entire family for this awesome event.

Central Valley Con is not happening this year in Modesto(word is it is coming back next year) but don’t let that get you down because StocktonCon Winter will be taking place on January 19th 10-5 pm and it is going to be huge. They have already announced several special guests including Eric & Eliza Roberts, Dominic Pace(Mandalorian), Power Ranger, Walter Jones and WWE wrestlers Kelly Kelly and Raven. There will also be several notable comic book artists along with tons of vendors filling the Stockton Arena. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Last year beat all expectations and 2020 looks to be even better.

If you can not wait until next year to get your nerdy fix there are a few options, Sac Gamers Expo at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center in Sacramento is always a fantastic event and Ohana Con at the Clarion on in Modesto both happening on December 8th. Either of these events would be a great opportunity to pick up some last-minute Christmas gifts.

Speaking of last-minute gifts check out Invincible and Modesto Comics for a wide array of comics, pops and other fun gift ideas. For the gamers in your life stop by Utopia Games & Collectibles on Tully, Area 51 on McHenry next to Modesto Comics and Warhammer in the Village One Plaza. All of these businesses offer gift certificates if you are not sure what to buy.

Have fun and hope to see you out celebrating your geek chic and mark your calendar because I will be hosting Graffiti-Con on June 20th at the Modesto Centre Plaza and would love for you all to join us in what is becoming a Modesto Graffiti tradition.
