As the year comes to a close, we get to experience some of the best Modesto has to offer, starting with our beautiful State theater. All month there will be holiday movies and events for the community to enjoy. On December 21st there will be an all day celebration from 8am-10pm with free showings of all your favorite Saturday morning cartoons for the State’s 85th birthday. Earlier showings will be targeted toward the younger crowd and nights being for a more mature audience. There will also be Christmas classics such as Elf and Home Alone showing throughout the month that I highly suggest you check out on thestate.org<thestate.org/>. As if it couldn’t get any better, they will also be showing a Warren Miller film on December 6th and 7th. With the purchase of a ticket you donate to the Society for Disabilities and get a free lift ticket to Bear. Win-win!

Another way to enjoy these movies is in the comfort of your own home. The best way to do this is by wrapping them up like gifts and unwrapping it when are in the spirit to watch one. By doing this you save the hassle of agreeing on a Christmas movie and you can even use them as decoration. My favorite memories have to be making a pillow bed on the floor in front of the television and cuddling up with my sister to watch The Muppet Christmas Carol and decorating the tree while watching Emmet Otter’s Jugband Christmas with my mom.

I am beyond excited for what this month is going to bring and I hope you are as well. Happy Holiday’s Modesto, see you next year!
