Graffiti Summer is Coming

Modesto USA is known around the world for our American Graffiti classic car culture. The sounds of AM radio, the class of 1962 and the vroom of hot rods ready to cruise. May 31 kicks off the season with the legendary George Lucas film American Graffiti at the historic 1934 State Theatre. Then the cruise is on, with the Modesto Area Street Rods show in McHenry Village,(one if the early cruise turnarounds) on June 1. With a week of Park n Shines, a classic MoBand night in the park you can check out the annual Legends of the Cruise ceremony and car show in 10th Street Plaza at 5 pm on June 4 with some great rock n roll. June 6, the magic happens for the American Graffiti Festival Cruise in downtown and then the big car show of the year at MJC West, thanks to the North Modesto Kiwanis. Fun fact, the North Modesto Kiwanis will be the Grand Marshal of the Cruise Parade. Later in the month it’s Back to Graffiti with Smokey Robinson at the Fruit Yard and showings of Grease at the Gallo Center from Modesto Performing Arts. It is going to be a great summer, so get out your poodle skirt, leather jacket and sneakers and head to the local soda shop. Of course, Graffiti Summer home base will be at the Graffiti USA Museum at 610 N Ninth St with special exhibits all month long. Stop by and see the cars featured in American Graffiti and maybe make a donation to help construction. Graffiti Summer is a magic time in Modesto USA, so polish your chrome, slick back your hair and cruise!
