Live from Modesto…it’s Saturday Night!

by Abigail Power

Getting together and enjoying our community is truly one of the best things you can do – it fills your tank and reminds you of why living in our city can be so magical. We know it’s hard, from tight budgets to watching kids to changing lifestyles, but it’s so important to make an effort to go out and about (where and when you can) to stay connected to those around us. We at the ViewCrew LOVE a Saturday night in Downtown Modesto so we thought we would share some fun local ideas of how to light up the town for all kinds of different lifestyles and plans for a fun night out.
Ready to Party?
Modesto has no shortage of live music and fantastic drinks! Check out these places that are always poppin’ on a Saturday night. You can find great cocktails and fantastic bar scene at Lo-Fidelity Laboratories,Intermission, Speakeasy, The Boardroom, and The Fox Pub. If you’re looking for more of a dance and nightlife scene – you can take your pick of Palladium, Splash Modesto, Vault Nightclub, Spotlight Lounge, and Ten Twelve Bar & Lounge.
Looking for Date Night?
Looking for some romance and a little extra sprinkle of magic? The ViewCrew recommends dinner and drinks at Tresetti’s, Galletto, Fuzio, D’Forno, Surla’s, Dewz or Lo-Fi Lounge and Dining followed by a movie at the State Theatre or Brenden Theatres or a performance at Prospect Theatre Project.
On a Budget?
Saturday matinee shows are the way to get a deal on movies. Save $4+ per ticket by catching an earlier show. Then you’re just in time for downtown Happy Hours! This is the ticket! Looking for ½ off appetizers or cocktails to get the biggest bang for your buck? Fuzio has a great Happy Hour from 3 to 5 PM and lots of places have early afternoon deals on great snacks and drinks. Enjoy an evening stroll checking out the Graffiti Historic Cruise Route down 11th and 12th or Dowtown Murals all over town and find the map at visitmodesto.com/momurals.
Kids in Tow?
Believe it or not – there are great places to take kids downtown to enjoy delicious food and a comfortable atmosphere. The ViewCrew recommends Commonwealth, Chinn’s, Churchkey, Food Fix as places where you can get delicious cuisine and a downtown experience while also being able to enjoy time with your kids. Bonus points at Chinn’s, Food Fix, and Commonwealth – you pay at the counter so you can skidaddle as soon as your kids are ready to bounce. If you want to leave the kids at home, keep an eye out for the Children’s Museum MoChiMu schedule for their “parents night out” events where they will keep your kids entertained while you enjoy a date downtown! Next one is February 14th! Start planning now for Valentine’s Day.
