April is loaded with a huge variety of performing arts, from “live” dinosaurs, to Bee Gees Tributes, Opera and even some cool new indie performances.
The arts are one of the keys to making Modesto special. It’s so vital that we support the arts, and it’s not just about going out to see a show. We are unique and it takes a lot of support. Modesto has opera, ballet, symphony, performing arts, art galleries, live music, indie-theatre, poetry, writing and so much more.
The Modesto Symphony turns 95 with the Four Seasons. Fitting that they are delivering Vivaldi’s greatest hit to celebrate this milestone. On April 10, at The State Theatre. This special anniversary fundraiser features a chamber orchestra performance led by Music Director Nicholas Hersh with violinist Amaryn Olmeda performing Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons.
The Prospect Theatre Project
This is Modesto’s cool indie theatre space where innovative and fun events happen throughout the month. April 3, 4 , 5 catch the last few performances of Stop Kiss on stage.
Off The Air is back – April 10
The acclaimed indie music series is back for April at the Prospect Theatre Project Don’t miss. Talking Ghosts delivers cinematic music that feels beamed in from a forgotten corner of the underworld. The five-piece conjures ghost-folk, surf goth, and garage psych into something shadowy and surprisingly danceable — weaving songs from the echoes of what haunts them.
Strange Vine’s earthy, energetic music is a fusion of blues, psychedelic, and traditional American rock.
Radio Cavalcade.- Go back in time with Sam Space as he takes a case from a mysteriius women in the search for the bejeweled Maltese Falcon as a complete radio show at the Prospect. This is a one of a kind event with sound effects and everything.

The State has a line up that’s a bit of everything this month and has become the place for comedy events from national to the local with some special tribute concerts this month.

Crocodiles

Gallo Center
From Mama, Ukuleles to Opera, there’s something for everyone at the Gallo Center. Make sure that you join the Friends of the Center and make sure you are on the email list to get notification of special added shows, AND preferential ticket purchases to beat the rush.
Opera Modesto brings as the special performance of Rusalka by renowned Czech composer Antonin Dvorak. This will be an impressive performance by Modesto’s own opera company, April 24 & 26
One April 3 – Vicky Lawrence will bring her famed character Mama to the state in her special “two woman” show. April 10, The Netflix series Life on our Planet by Dan Tapster comes to the stage. April 11, You Should Be Dancing will deliver a fun Bee Gees Tribute and you know every song. April 24, Alfred Robles brings his Vatos with Gatos show and wrap up the month on April 25 with the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain
