PerformingView – November Specials

The holiday season is right around the corner. But in the meantime, are so many great performances this month, from the Book of Mormon, to Three Dog Night & Frankie Valli, to Engelbert Humperdinck that you really need to plan out your month. There are some really cool shows that you need to experience that will give you a nice cross section of the variety here in town. Make sure you check before you go anywhere to make sure you don’t miss anything.

Now and Then

Jose Antonio Rodriguez will be performing a benefit concert for CCAA and RTA’s Children’s Arts & Education Programs. Join an evening of fine music as Mr. Rodriguez comes to us directly from Spain to share his amazing talent.

The MSYO returns to the Gallo Center for the Arts for their 47th Season with a unique two-day opening. On the 11th and 12th at 7:30, Conductor Nicholas Hersh will lead the MSO in the second movement of Schubert’s famous string quartet, Death and the Maiden. Then pianist George Li will be featured on Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini and the program will finish with Sibelius’ Symphony No. 5. Then for a matinee on the 12th, the Modesto Youth Symphony will perform pieces by Sibelius, Rimsky-Korsakov, and Haydn!

Post Modern Jukenox
The pop-jazz phenomenon Postmodern Jukebox is back after a pandemic break with an amazing new tour. The time-twisting musical collective known for putting “pop music in a time machine,” is back on the road with The Grand Reopening Tour–and the incredibly gifted, Modesto-born singer Effie Passero is on the tour with them fearing their hit rendition of Hallelujah.

Singer and playwright Lisa Rock and her 6-piece band are keeping The Carpenters’ holiday traditions alive and bringing their unforgettable Christmas songs to the stage.
