Say Hello to June

BargainView: Say hello to June!
By Monica Barber

Say hello to the halfway mark of the year… June is here! It’s also the beginning of the warmer temperatures and the start of summer! Ms. M is just enjoying being present on a lovely day. Sipping on her Iced Coffee courtesy of Penny University at Modesto’s Certified Farmers Market, she takes in everything. It’s nearly summer, but it feels like it is already here from the crowd and warm day. So, if you are ready to have fun and watch your budget, there is plenty to do in June!

Summertime means that MoBand’s Concert In The Park at Graceda Park returns! The season starts June 6th and is free for all ages. The yearly summer concert series is just as much of a tradition in Modesto as the American Graffiti Festival. There is seating in the bowl and plenty of spaces for blankets for those who prefer to enjoy the show from the grass. Arrive early as good grass spaces are limited. The music starts at 8 pm. www.moband.org

The culture of cruising and cars is a trademark of Modesto! Celebrating 25 years, The American Graffiti Festival and Car Show returns on June 8th and 9th. The Modesto Kiwanis Classic Car Parade precedes the festival on June 7th. It is a local favorite for all ages, as it cruises through Downtown Modesto, followed by the Car show on the weekend at the West Campus of Modesto Junior College. The parade is family-friendly and free, starting at 6:30 pm. Plan to arrive early because streets close and spaces fill up. Tickets for Car Show: $10 Sat 9 am-5 pm. Sun 9 am-3 pm.
