Greetings from ModestoView | 02-18-2020
ModestoView News Letter

Greetings Friends!

We hope you all had a great Valentine’s and Presidents Day weekend!  Looking up in the sky though, we need some Feb showers but these days are beautiful.  I was in downtown Modesto Sunday evening and people were sitting on the patios, enjoying a beautiful night. So cool.  This week we ramp up to Modesto’s MLK Celebration and Chinese New Year and there are a couple of “don’t miss” events this week.

Rotary does so much good, all over the world, and to do this requires a lot of generosity, donations and fundraisers.  Fortunately these fundraisers are fun and there are two very important ones this week.  First TUSK, Fleetwood Mac Tribute for MoRo at the Gallo.  This will be a super show with all the hits.   Second, Bacchus and Brews presented by Modesto Sunrise Rotary on Saturday at St. Stanislaus School.

So much to do this week, grab your friends and get on the move for some Shakespeare at the Salida Library, Vivian Lee Quartet at the McHenry Museum, Anthony K Comedy at Cheroot or even take a Stroll Down Penny Lane or even go see our own local bachelor Reggie Rucker as he steps up for the Bachelor Live at the Gallo Center.   Don’t forget the super tasty Crab Feeds that benefit our local non-profits.  We have a whole list of these and so much more at the 209’s best calendar at www.modestoview.com

Are you tracking the events for the Modesto 150 Celebration?  You can learn more and check out some of our history.  I wrote the section for Cruising and will be sending in a section for Rockabilly Music.  www.modesto150.com

I hope to see you out and about and don’t forget to say Hey!

ServiceView

By Chris Murphy

The best communities are filled with people who get involved and give their time, talent and money back. Sometimes it seems complicated to do, but it is really easier than you think. This is where our local service groups come in. It is the power of a group that makes this work. It is easier to team up to solve a problem than taking it on alone. Groups like Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions, Elks, Soroptimists, Eagles, Moose and others are ready to take on our local challenges and offer good fellowship at the same time. ModestoView is compiling a list of the local services clubs and contact information on how to get involved. Read More

By Jim Christiansen

It is that love month, February. This year with an extended leap day along with Valentine’s Day. More time to express love for art and local artists. That love of art and artists and art events, the main reason I write this column. After mourning losses last month with the year change, the closing of Tri-Chromatic Gallery, and moving on for the Shire Community I love the fact that both groups continuing pop-up events, concerts, shows, and special events.
