Greetings from ModestoView | 11-27-2019
ModestoView News Letter

Greetings friends!

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
We are feeling the first fall storms and I hope you got your gutters cleaned and your patio furniture put away in time.  The rain and wind sure freshen up the air for this Thanksgiving weekend.   This is a weekend about friends and family and both old and new traditions.  It is so mind blowing as your kids and their partners share family time and we all try to make each day special.  You can start your day at MJC’s traditional Turkey Trot so you can relax and enjoy the tasty treats when you turn off, log off, put the phones away and enjoy the day.

This weekend, let’s make it all about our local businesses.  We need to shop small and make sure we are doing business with our friends and keep our dollars local.  There are great local black Friday deals.  Then on Saturday, it is ModShop in downtown with new extended hours and with over 100 crafters, you should be able to take care of everyone on your list while eating and drinking through the DoMo District.  Don’t forget, Modesto On Ice is open and it is ALL SKATE!  They have new S’mores packs and cozy fires to warm up and it is fun for the whole family.   Stop by the Sierra Pacific Warehouse Group Skate Shack to pick up your skates and have a blast.   Don’t forget to tag your pics #modestoview so we can share them too.

OK – AFTER Thanksgiving, it is ok to flip the Christmas holiday switch to on.  There are some Hall of Fame things to enjoy this weekend like the world–famous Mannheim Steamroller at the Gallo Center, Babes in Toyland at the Gallo Center,  Christmas at Pemberly at the Prospect Theatre Project and finishing off strong with a Merri-achi Christmas at the Gallo Center.   If you are in 10th St Plaza, check out Rockin Holiday decorations going up and getting ready for the December 7 Rockin’ Tree lighting after the Holiday Parade.   See what is going on at @rockinholiday

It is going to be a fun weekend, and this next month is going to go really fast.  The new exciting ModestoView Magazine featuring the State Theatre will be out on the stands and the mailboxes on Friday and Saturday.   You are going to want to sit down, read it cover to cover and plan out your month.  You will be able to read it Friday morning at www.modestoview.com/the-magazine

Thank you all for being part of a great community.  We are so very thankful for you all and for all you do to make our city better.  Enjoy your holiday and we wish you  and yours all the best. We hope to see you out and about this weekend and make sure you say hey.

Making things and memories.
Now that we are in the world of all-digital streaming all the time and things craved are powered by batteries and are obsolete the day you get them, there is something kind of wrong about this. Not that we don’t love our technology, but there is nothing really special about a space grey digital device. You can’t make one at home, you can’t pass it down from generation to generation and it really doesn’t warm your heart like something homemade. Things that are made with care and wonderful experiences are the best gift you can give. Read More
