FitView: Fitness Essentials
By Efren Martinez

With Fall happily fast approaching many of us are sure to make our way outdoors for some fitness adventures. That is why it is important for us to remember some valuable essentials needed for outdoor fitness. Although not as common as it is in August we can still have high temperatures that reach 100 degrees in the Fall.

Protect yourself from those dangerous ozone rays and the direct sunlight that can age you faster than time itself. Always remember to apply a healthy dose of sunscreen to your body and a special sunscreen to your face that won’t clog your pores. I’m sure many of us enjoy having that nice bronze tan. Unfortunately, that tan can be detrimental not only to the appearance of our skin as we age but can lead to a skin cancer known as melanoma. I like to also recommend a visor instead of a hat. This allows heat to escape the top of your head and keeps the body cooler. Of course, you need to add to all that some UV sunglasses and bright clothing to make yourself more visible to passing vehicles.

But wait there’s more! mosquito repellant is a super important vital essential. Mosquitoes are known to carry some of the most dangerous viruses such as West Nile, Zika, Chikungunya and Malaria. So before going out either in the early morning or at dusk make sure you apply a good mosquito repellant. This is best applied after your sunscreen to all exposed skin.

Friends just taking a few steps to protect yourself from the sun as well as those bugs will ensure you stay healthy for your fitness adventures. Cheers to your health!

About the Author:

I answered the call back in 1983; mixing Music and Entertainment with an eccentric European style has always come easy for me. In the early 80's I was the Disc Jockey for most of the high school dances in Modesto. In the late 80's I found myself in Hollywood working as a dancer and sound engineer for various professional recording industries. In 1990 my wife of 25 years and I started (The Quake Mobile DJ ®) which was seeded from San Francisco's 1985, The Quake, radio station that only lasted a short while on the air. 26 years later The Quake Mobile DJ is bigger & better than ever in the Entertainment industry. Real-Estate, photojournalism, event promoter, saving animals, travel and fitness are a few other of my interests. I also enjoy motivational speaking to children and to those who are struggling with addiction. In my life, I have always been a very direct person and once I see a goal I won't quit till I've achieved it. But out of all of the above I feel in my heart that the best inspiration in my life is my wife and my love for the faith that I practice. Phil 4:20
