Things are ramping up again for the season in our local performing arts community. There are full schedules on our local stages and there is so much to see and experience across our county and into the foothills. One thing is for sure, there is something for everyone. So let’s get into it and start booking your tickets now.

The Gallo Center season is full speed. Everything from Modesto Symphony, country, opera, stage performance.
Gershwin Spectacular
An American in Paris is a vivid musical postcard with sweeping, romantic melodies punctuated by blues and jazz-inspired rhythms. Be transported to the City of Love with this Gershwin classic that inspired the movie-musical of the same name, starring Gene Kelly

Tenor Superstars
Australia’s own The TEN Tenors return to the stage in 2024 celebrating their greatest hits with a new show. The Greatest Hits Live tour will feature the most loved and requested songs from their 28-year history. The Gallo Center’s Chad Hilligus is a former member of the 10 Tenors so this will be a great show.

Weekend with Pablo Picasso
This one-man tour-de-force based on Picasso’s writings, writer/performer Herbert Sigüenza (Culture Clash) takes on the role of the legendary artist, inviting the listener into Picasso’s private studio for an intimate and revealing weekend as he prepares to deliver six new works to a buyer on Monday morning

Over in Newman, you can experience some really cool tribute shows.
Two of Us
Drew Harrison and Scott Southard of the Sun Kings bring the songbook of Lennon and McCartney. This acoustic performance with their amazing vocals make for a perfect evening with the music of the Beatles.

The Refugees
Voted the top tribute band in the S.F. Bay Area in 2009, the Refugees perform their extensive Tom Petty song catalog including hits with the Heartbreakers, solo work, The Traveling Wilburys and Mudcrutch.

The State has a bunch of variety this month in addition to their films.
Prince Tribute
Let’s all go crazy for a live Prince Tribute show that will take you through the illustrious career of one of the most prolific songwriters and performers that we will ever know. Presented by the award winning When Doves Cry, you will experience the magic of Prince.

Pacific Mambo Orchestra
Enjoy the Grammy Award winning Latin big band Pacific Mambo Orchestra (PMO) and dig on the excitement as the Johansen HS (JHS) Jazz Band takes the stage as well. Please support this event as Johansen’s band program is raising money to perform in LA at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. The Johansen Jazz Band will start at 6 PM, with some members of PMO joining for part of the set. PMO will start at 7 PM

Time to Laugh!
We own the laughs will feature hilarious performances by Tania Estrada, Tyson Paul, Subhah Agarwal, Saul Trujillo, and headliner Nick Guerra. Drink, Mingle, & Laugh as the host for the evening will be Modesto Native Monique Flores.

Prospect Theatre Project – Radio Cavalcade
Experience the thrill of watching a live radio production, with sound effects and all the role playing. “It Happened One Night” is Lux Radio Theater’s adaptation of the Columbia Pictures/ Frank Capra film hit that was the first film to win five Academy Awards. Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert reprised their roles as a pampered socialite (Colbert) who tries to get out from under her father’s thumb and falls in love with a roguish reporter (Gable).

New Comedy Club!
Deaf Puppy Comedy Club – Manteca
There is a lot of excitement brewing as Chris Teicheira opens his new comedy club in Manteca. Deaf Puppy has been producing comedy locally for many years and now there is our area’s first dedicated comedy club. Two great openers this month will be Modesto natives Kris Tinkle and Marcella Arguello fresh off of her HBO special. Kris will host the soft opening, Feb 15-17 and the Marcella will headline the Grand Opening. Don’t miss this new club comedy experience where you can expect to see some great national talent.
